📊 Open Analytics
Open Analytics provides valuable behavioral insights from your participants. It allows you to track self-reported completions and observe user activity within tasks.
-
Completion Tracking: A task is officially marked as complete when a participant clicks the “Give Up” button. You can customize this button label to better fit the tone or language of your study (e.g., “Finish Task” or “Move On”).
-
Heatmaps: In the Heatmaps section, you can visualize where and when users clicked during a task, helping you understand navigation patterns and interaction hotspots.
🎥 Video Shoots
Enable Video Shoots if you'd like to collect verbal and visual feedback from participants via think-aloud protocols.
This feature allows participants to:
-
Share their screen
-
Use their microphone
-
Enable their camera
These inputs can give you rich, contextual feedback about how users perceive and interact with your experience.
🔐 Permissions & Participant Consent
Since Video Shoots involve access to personal devices, it’s important to handle permissions transparently:
-
Permissions are voluntary: Participants must manually grant access to their screen, microphone, and/or camera. These cannot be enforced by the system.
-
Notify participants in advance: To avoid confusion or drop-offs, inform participants early in the session that they will be asked to share their screen, microphone, and/or camera.
You can do this using a Context screen block or a Legal block at the beginning of your study.
Best Practices
-
Let participants know why you're requesting access (e.g., “We’d like to hear your thoughts aloud as you complete the task.”)
-
Provide clear instructions and allow users to opt out if they're uncomfortable sharing certain inputs.
-
Test your setup before launching to ensure permissions prompts work correctly across devices and browsers.
