To obtain a comprehensive and natural view of user interactions, testers are given full freedom to explore a Prototype or Website at their own pace. This approach captures rich behavioral data and multiple valuable metrics:
1. Heatmaps
Heatmaps visually highlight where testers focus their attention during free navigation, revealing areas of interest, usability strengths, and pain points.
2. Video Recordings
The entire session is recorded, enabling playback to observe tester behaviors such as hesitation, discovery, and navigation patterns—offering rich qualitative insights.
3. User Flows
Analyzing the sequence of screens and interactions testers navigate reveals common paths, detours, and potential friction points.
4. Visit Time
Tracking how long testers spend within the block offers quantitative insights into engagement levels and content interest.
Key Features and Configuration Options:
- Import Options: Upload Prototypes, or Websites to test.
- Viewport Settings: Customize display settings to match target devices or scenarios.
- Instructions Section: Format text with Bold, Italic, Underline; insert YouTube, Vimeo, etc. media or lists for clear guidance.
- “Give Up” Button: Customize the button text to align with study tone and goals.
- Logic Jumps: Direct testers conditionally based on actions, time spent, clicks, or screens visited, enabling dynamic study paths.
Available Condition Triggers:
- Tester visited current block
- Time spent on block (greater than, equals to, less than a specified time)
- Number of screens visited
Results & Insights:
- Completion Metrics: Number of testers who completed or dropped off, plus average time spent on the block (In this context, Completed refers to the number of participants who clicked the "Give up" button).
- Click Tracking & User Flows: Detailed maps of every click or tap, alongside a visual user flow showing the testers’ navigation path.
- Success & Failure Rates: Diagrams visualize completion and drop-off rates for the block.
- Engagement Time: Charts depict time spent on the block by completed vs. incomplete attempts.
User Session Analysis:
At the bottom of the report, users can access detailed session data for both the specific block and the entire study, including:
- Completion dates and times
- Device, OS, browser, and location info per tester
- Click counts, completion success, and block-specific data
- Access to the Theater for session recordings and video shoots (if enabled)
Updated February 2025: The User Session view is now a sleek modal interface.
